My Daughter Mackenzie and I did this photo on my Advanced Studio class set today. The retro kitchen was constructed by students and has been up for a few weeks. It comes down tomorrow. It was a lot of fun to do. Everything is not as it seems, the cabinet doors are made out of foam core and the fridge is a particle board box...

In these days of digital composite images, photographers are often required to add a virtual background that completes and enhances the set or location. In this rooftop set, constructed in the 9th floor studio, photographers George Ferris (left) and Geoff Ridenour (right) had to maintain the same vanishing point in both the real foreground, and the virtual background, for their final images to seem believable and for the foreground and the background elements to seamlessly stitch together.
